CARPENTRY 1 (3 per day) E#C460201            mmc     9201 Honors/9202 College Prep     15 credits

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Exploratory program--Others with approval of Career & Technical Education Director

Students will receive instruction in the critical issue of “SHOP SAFETY” as it relates to this particular industry.  Instruction will be concentrated on the proper use of power tools and the machinery used in cabinet joinery. Included in this course of study students will re-saw and glue, identify joints and reproduce them.  Related classroom instruction is also included in the course of study along with estimating for the building trades.  Meets Academic Expectations 1,2,3,4 & 5


CARPENTRY 2 (3 per day)  E#C460201 mmc                 9211 Honors/9212 College Prep 15 credits

Prerequisite: Carpentry 1--Others with the approval of Career & Technical Education Director.  Actual construction experience will be provided through on-campus and off-campus projects, i.e. garages, decks, additions and building of a house or other structure.  Basic techniques of layout, framing and sheathing will be emphasized. Classroom theory will correlate with the tasks encountered on the job site.  Transportation and tools are provided.  Meets Academic Expectations 1,2,3,4 & 5


CARPENTRY 3 (4 per day) E#C460201   mmc   9231Honors/9232 College Prep             20 credits

Prerequisite: Carpentry 2--Others with approval of Career & Technical Education Director.  Advanced techniques in roofing, siding, exterior trim, window and door installation along with drywall, interior trim and flooring will form the basis for onsite work experience.  Theoretic concepts will be reinforced with classroom instruction. Cooperative placement for qualified and recommended seniors will satisfy course requirements.  Meets Academic Expectations 1,2,3,4 & 5


CARPENTRY CO- OP  E#C460201 mmc                9241 Honors/9242 College Prep             20 credits

Prerequisite: Grade 12 – Student “See eligibility requirements – Page #35”

This program is designed to provide seniors with an opportunity to combine daily school instruction with on-the-job training.  Students, who are paid for their work, are covered by Workman's Compensation Insurance.  Students earn course credits and gain invaluable work experience.  Cooperative Education also provides the students with an opportunity to become more self confident, plan career goals, and gain a better understanding of their academic and related career and technical course work. Meets Academic Expectations 1,2,3,4 & 5
